Overwhelming & Overwhelmed!

After five games, the Lady Lions softball team have had what can only be described as an “up and down” season. Earlier last week Greeley Central was completely stymied by the Lion’s pitching and defense. Greeley was only able to scratch out two runs on two hits over six innings, while Lyons belted eleven hits and crossed the plate a dozen times.

The first score of the game was by Madison Johnson, who scorched a deep triple and scampered home on a passed ball on the very next pitch. As the game went on the bats got hotter; Aisland Khlief doubled in the fourth for a pair of RBIs, Claire Busby had two singles to notch two RBIs of her own. Shaeli Herman had a pair of singles, and Madison Johnson had two singles to go with her triple. Liz Jonjak who also roped a triple, had two hits, a pair of RBIs, and a couple of runs scored. Pitcher Abbie

About Town - September 10, 2015

We pay tribute to Oskar Blues-CAN’d Aid and other businesses for sponsoring the various events to remember the 2013 flood, and for going forth for Lyons’ sake.  We pay tribute to all those who helped rescue Lyons from the flood for days and now years; the responders, the volunteers, the many agencies, and Town and Staff. Yes thousands came to help us.

World Renowned Quartet At The Old Gallery

How on earth can a town of 528 people, one post office, three restaurants, and one community center end up hosting one of the world’s greatest ensembles? “It’s hard to believe, isn’t it,” laughs Old Gallery Board member Margie Patterson. “But you’d be surprised at how much we’ve got going on in our little community.”

For one thing, the community galvanized and raised one million dollars toward the recently-completed renovation of The

Airing Grievances

As the two-year anniversary of the September 2013 flood quickly approaches, a group of Confluence Area residents had originally scheduled a neighborhood meeting at one of their residences, and invited a Town of Lyons Trustee or two to attend so that the residents’ complaints and issues concerning the permitting process for rebuilding their homes could be addressed and validated. Trustee Dan Greenberg, himself a former Confluence resident/landowner and unofficial contact

Moving Toward Recovery

By Mayor John O’Brien
Two years after the historic and devastating floods, we find ourselves still in the early stages of rebuilding. To the occasional visitor driving through town, it would be easy to think that Lyons is fully recovered. A drive down Main Street does not offer views of vacant parks, empty homes, and partially repaired roads. For those of us who call Lyons home, it is evident that our small town is still recovering. Over the next years, we will see non-stop construction all over town. The

BOT Fails To Disappoint

With a light agenda, and with two sevenths of the Board of Trustees (BOT) in absentia, Tuesday night’s (the normal Monday meeting was pushed back a day because of the Labor Day observance) meeting at Town Hall took on a pace that promised an early adjournment. The remaining Trustees who were present didn’t disappoint.

Shoot Out On The Plains

It was a shoot-out on the plains as the Lady Lions softball team traveled to Eaton. Lyons collected eleven hits in seven innings and took the lead in the top of the 3rd but, it wasn’t enough and Eaton won this wild shoot-out, 16 to 9, with eleven hits of their own.
