IRS Identity Verification Service

The Internal Revenue Service today reminded taxpayers who receive requests from the IRS to verify their identities that the Identity Verification Service website, idverify.irs.gov, offers the fastest, easiest way to complete the task.

Taxpayers may receive a letter when the IRS stops suspicious tax returns that have indications of being identity theft but contains a real taxpayer’s name and/or Social Security number. Opal Bryan

Opal B. Bryan, 87, of Lyons passed away on Friday, March 20, at Life Care Center of Longmont. She was born May 20, 1927 in Guthrie Center, IA to Ellis and Minnie (Hoepner) Brady. Opal married Melvin N. Bryan on February 17, 1951 in Audubon, IA.  They moved to Longmont, in 1952, and then to Lyons, in 1955. Opal was a member of the Lyons Methodist Church.

Here it is snowing again. Lots of events, square dances, etc., were cancelled over the weekend; with most rescheduled for this weekend. The LES Bingo Night has been rescheduled for this Friday, March 6, at 6 p.m. Be sure to attend. Get in on those huge fun baskets created by each class, the cakewalk, hotdogs, and of course bingo! It is a benefit for the Lyons Elementary School. See you there!
