Local Teen Receives Eagle Scout Award
Matt Smith started his scouting adventure as a Tiger Scout in Pack 281 while in first grade at Hygiene Elementary School. Matt earned Cub Scouts Highest award, The Arrow of Light, in February of 2007, earning all twenty Cub Scout Badges. Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, especially in Ireland! Two hundred and twenty-seven members of the Colorado State University Marching Band traveled to Ireland last month to play and march in the Dublin St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Parking Passes Now Available
The Town of Lyons Parks & Recreation Department will once again implement a five-dollar per vehicle parking fee for those who wish to park in the Meadow or Bohn Park parking lots on weekends and holidays. The parking fee will be enforced for the 2013 summer season (April 15 through October 1). Residents of Lyons will not be charged the five-dollar parking fee as long as they utilize a “resident” parking pass, which can be obtained at no charge for all
New Ban On Disposal Of E-waste
Beginning July 1, Colorado residents may no longer dispose of most electronic waste (e-waste) in their household trash because Colorado landfills may no longer accept e-waste. The change is the result of a new law, the Electronic Recycling Jobs Act. Industry, most businesses, government agencies, institutions, and schools already are subject to e-waste disposal restrictions.
“The new law applies to TV sets, central processing units, computer monitors and peripherals, printers and fax machines, all kinds of laptops and notebook computers, DVD players, VCRs and any video display device with a screen larger than four inches,” explained Wolf Kray, recycling specialist with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The ban also includes radios, stereo equipment, and video game consoles. Telephones, motor vehicle components, and non-hazardous industrial or commercial devices may still be legally disposed of in a Colorado landfill.
