Dear Citizens of Lyons,
Many of the readers of this newspaper, Lyons – Open Discussion and Town Board meeting attendees will likely know that we, Mark Browning and Peter Baumgartner, frequently hold differing opinions. However, on the need for affordable housing we are in agreement.

Several newly elected and re-elected officials were sworn into service to Boulder County Government Tuesday, January 13, as part of the county’s annual Reorganization meeting held in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room of the Boulder County Courthouse.

The Lyons Community Foundation (LCF) says goodbye to board member and long-time volunteer Alison Jennings. Alison served on the LCF board for the past three years and was the foundation’s vice-chair for the past year. In her time serving the foundation, Alison has made many important contributions to the growth and development of the local non-profit, most notably as the chair of the LCF Annual Awards Gala over the last six years.

Let me get this straight! By voting down recreational pot stores in Lyons we still get one on our border that is probably most identifiable as a Lyons Pot Store with none of the revenue from that store. I am told that one of the stores in our city limits nets around $400 a day in revenue. I would like to know the total revenue

Another week gone by, and it has been pretty cold and icy. Folks need to wear cleats to save them from falling. Also during these cold snaps, it’s a good idea to leave your water dripping to help prevent the pipes from freezing.

The Lady Lions (2-6) have played six of their last eight games on the road against bigger and more experienced squads. The Lyons High School varsity boys’ basketball team has completed preseason competition with a 4 and 4 record. The team, under the guidance of head coach Andrew Smith, has victories over Clear Creek (twice), Front Range Christian and Valley.
