Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program available at FRCC

Front Range Community College will offer free income tax preparation assistance to low- and moderate-income filers this tax season.

This is the eighth year the Boulder County Campus has participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program through the Internal Revenue Service. VITA helps people with incomes of less than $50,000 who need assistance preparing their own tax returns.

PCDC Discusses Annexation Changes

Surprisingly, eight citizens and two Trustees showed up at Monday evening’s Planning and Community Development Commission (PCDC) meeting. Not surprisingly, six of the citizens were there to talk about unexplored options (the banning of cultivation, infusion, and sale of medical marijuana) the Town might consider. Unfortunately for those six hearty souls who had braved the frigid temperatures instead of watching the Auburn/Oregon game, medical marijuana was not on the agenda. What was on the agenda were possible amendments to the Town’s annexation procedures.

Planet Bluegrass Begins Construction of Sound Barrier

Construction began several weeks ago on a new sound wall along Highway 36 on the western edge of Planet Bluegrass. The eight foot tall sound barrier is the final element relating to the North St. Vrain bridge projects, which were rebuilt by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) in 2007. “This was part of the plan all along,” says Planet Bluegrass president Craig Ferguson.

In full disclosure, I am a Trustee for the Town of Lyons, a patient advocate member of the Department of Revenue’s (DoR) Medical Marijuana Working Group, I am a patient myself, a caregiver, and a current business license holder. At this time I have NO financial interest in any medical marijuana business. I write this as an individual member of these various communities. I don’t speak for the Board of Trustees (BoT), and I don’t speak for anyone else but myself.
It has been important to consider the mounting body of research demonstrating the multiple therapeutic benefits of cannabis use in this discussion.
