Beginning Tuesday, October 27, Evans Street, from 5th Avenue east to 4th Avenue, and 4th south to Park Street, will be closed daily from 7 a.m to 5 p.m. to through traffic, due to waterline construction for the "Capital Improvements - Confluence Area" project. Local residents will be allowed access to homes.

Book Signing At The Gallery

The Boulder Arts & Crafts Gallery, at 1421 Pearl Street in Boulder, will host a book signing on Saturday, November 14, from 2 to 4 p.m., by fine art photographer and leading wild horse advocate, Carol Walker. Walker will be signing her latest book, “Galloping to Freedom: Saving the Adobe Town Appaloosas” in the gallery. This event is free, and open to all.

Chili Champs Are Crowned

The Lyons Garden Club raised nearly one thousand dollars at their annual Chili Cook-Off fundraiser last Saturday evening before the Halloween Parade. This year they had a record twenty-four entries for the judging. There were twenty-six crock-pots all together because a couple of Garden Club members made chili just to sell so they would have enough “mild” chili.

Rebecca Louzon is known to many in Lyons for her yoga practice and for organizing and overseeing the Outdoor Games for the past several years. However, she also has a science and business background, which gives her an ability to make a living as well as enjoy the physical activities of yoga and her other interests.

Originally from Boston, she moved to Boulder and planned to go to medical school. Too much work and studying however, caused her to have some serious heart problems so she took up yoga and went on, in her words, a “Boulder yoga whore tour,”

Seniors Shine Versus Dayspring

For their last conference and home game of the season, all three Lyons High School girls’ volleyball teams (C, JV, and Varsity) had a clean sweep against the Eagles of Dayspring Christian Academy, who are currently ranked #1 in 2A volleyball. The C team concluded a very successful season impressively, winning both games by scores of 25 to 19 for a straight set victory.
