History Of Trees In Sandstone Park

The Ecology Board is writing an article about the Blue Spruce trees in Sandstone Park. At one time a memorial plaque and list was kept in the visitors’ center, but it seems to have disappeared. If you can shed some light on the subject (the trees, not the missing plaque), please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. The Ecology Board will take a picture and document the huge Colorado Blue Spruces on the east end of Sandstone Park. The board is seeking any informational history concerning those trees, like when were they planted, or by whom. Or were they there already in place when the park was created? Anything you know will help.

That’s A Wrap

And the award for “Best First Year Film Festival” goes to . . . Jake Fink, for the Lyons Film Festival! Fighting sketchy weather, recalcitrant technology, double-booked events and venues, Jake managed to pull off an impressive event.

The slate of movies was varied and entertaining. Becoming Bulletproof, Rodeo Dog, Scramble Vision, and Hanna Ranch all received “two thumbs up.” Local moviemaker Sally Van Meter had two entries, Barbie Box, and 9/12/13: The Tiller Family

A Request for a Continuance

Dear Editor,
As most of you are now aware, we have made the decision to ask for a continuance with regards to our proposed annexation to the Town until a deeper annexation study can be conducted, and the current moratorium lifted.
