A couple of weeks ago it was a movie crew filming “Dear Eleanor,” Tuesday morning at 6:45 a.m., it was a news crew from the Fox Network in Denver visiting Lyons to do a “live remote” about the extreme fire danger in Colorado. Why Lyons?
Well, Monday afternoon while he and his crew were attending a medical assist for a mountain biker who had gone over his handlebars up at Hall Ranch, Fire Chief J.J. Hoffman got a call about a wildfire starting up on Eagle Ridge Road just east of Lyons. Due to a quick response and a lot of luck, Hoffman and a second crew were able to contain the fire to a little less than an acre of grass and some treeRead more: Fox News In Town

Dear Lyons Recorder,
I wanted to comment on the hugely successful 2013 Lyons Outdoor Games (LOG). I have watched this event grow from its infancy into a family-friendly, multi-sport, and activity based three-day event. With growth comes growing pains; however, with growth comes the opportunity for Lyons to grow this event into a nationally recognized destination event that show cases the many attributes our town has to offer (beyond bluegrass). This event, when allowed to prosper, will continue to give back to us and our children for years to come. A huge thank you to Dave Cosgrove and his team, Dale Katechis, and of course Human Movement Management. We are on the right track. Lets keep this LOG rolling.

Dear Residents of Lyons,
Thank-you again for all of your help in finding Tally, our beloved dog, who ran away during the fireworks at the Lyons Outdoor Games. As recent Montana transplants who now live in Denver, this was our first trip to Lyons and we are so thankful for the kind, dog-friendly people who found Tally. We are looking forward to our next trip to Lyons.

Last week in the article, “The Skinny on Fats.” I wrote about the information we can gather from understanding our blood work results relating to our body's fat metabolism; cholesterol, triglycerides and more.
In many cases, the culprit for imbalances in our fat metabolism is the liver. What is helpful to understand, is that fats do make us fat, when they are the bad fats.
As our society transitioned from an agrarian culture influenced primarily from ancestral dietary traditions, the convenience factor startedRead more: The Fat About Fats

Undefeated Blue Mountain Stone got the night off Monday evening on the adult co-ed softball schedule of games in Bohn Park, and a pack of “also rans” used the league leaders’ respite to nip at the heels of the “Big Dog!” The Natural Disasters, McHeaters, and the Paddy Whackers, all sporting 2 – 1 records, seized the opportunity and won their respective contests to pull within a half a game of the Quarryworkers.
In the six o’clock game between the Natural Disasters and Fast Signs, it was the Disasters that got off to a fast start. Scoring seven runsRead more: Also Rans Gain Ground On BMS
