The following individual artists and arts organizations in Boulder County received $1,500 - $3,000 grants from the Martha Kate Thomas Fund for Artists, a fund of the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County and administrated by the Boulder County Arts Alliance (BCAA). Grants from this fund were awarded to artists who live or work in Boulder County and who have unforeseen needs due to special circumstances. This fund was established in October 2013; not surprisingly, the predominant theme of grant requests pertained to flood related challenges.

McConnell Bridge in Lyons is now open for public use. The two-way bridge is the second access to and from Lyons Valley Park, in southeast Lyons. McConnell Bridge sustained extensive damage in the September flood and has been closed since then. Full, temporary access has been established as of Monday, December 23.

After the devastating September floods, Gary and Kris Hazelton of Estes Park, came up with a design for a T-shirt. They approached Ron Shumate and Tim Buck of Trail Ridge Printing in Estes Park, and an idea was born, “Mountain Strong.”Read more: Mountain Strong
