New Owners For St. Vrain CrossFit

Former Estes Park residents, Nathanael Romig and his wife Kylie, have recently purchased the St. Vrain CrossFit gym (located just behind U-Pump-It) here in Lyons. The couple, along with their five month old son Theodore, currently live in Longmont but are looking for a rental here in Lyons to be a little closer to their new business. Nathanael, a former United States Marine (2005 to 2012) has

Go With Your Gut

By Dr. Sara Hart, ND, MSOM, LAc, Owner of Stillwater Healing Arts Clinic, Lyons

Part 4 of 4:  Core Strength In & Out

We all know that person who can eat anything they want, anytime they want, and in any portion they want and be just fine.  That maddening individual’s belly doesn’t seem phased by double dessert, carbo-loading, or going back for seconds of just about anything.  In comparison to those with heartburn, bloating, cramping and other annoying symptom combinations, it just doesn’t seem

Colorado Agricultural Exports Important for State

By John T. Salazar, Commissioner of Agriculture

When thinking about the goods or services that Colorado exports to other countries, agricultural products may not be the first thing that crosses your mind.  Think again.
Agricultural exports have become increasingly important to our state’s economy, with high-quality, locally grown products sold from our farmers and ranchers to worldwide markets that are rich with opportunity.  And these exports are growing rapidly, doubling since 2009 to $2.1 billion.  I am excited about the continued growth of Colorado’s agricultural exports to international

About Town Nov. 15, 2012

VETERANS DAY WAS SUNDAY, with the Longmont parade on Saturday.  The Lyons High School Band participated in the parade, with a large crowd in spite of the cold and snow.  All paid their respects to  our veterans for the years given out of their lives, and the many who gave of their lives to defend the USA. We honor all service people and those from our area who were

What $1 Million Will Get You In Retirement

By Doug Carey

I spend a lot of time helping people understand how much money they will need to meet their retirement goals. Today I want to look at this another way: What will $1 million actually get you in retirement? This is an interesting question

Lyons Runners Continue To Shine

Although the high school cross-country season is over, the Lyons cross-country  runners continued to shine at the annual Longmont Turkey Trot last week. Not content to rest on their laurels (the boys won State, and the girls came in second), the podium was littered with Lyons runners, in fact, six out of the top eight finishers in the 2-mile event were Lyons High runners.

Nearby Educational Exhibits Worth Seeing

Exclusive to Denver, the “Becoming Van Gogh” exhibit at the Denver Art Museum includes seventy works by Van Gogh, which return to original owners after the January 20, 2013 closing. Another twenty works by artists who inspired Van Gogh’s ten-year art career, sit beside his work and show his progression from figure drawings to oil landscapes, among other things.

No Rest For The Weary

By Joseph Lekarczyk

In the interest of full disclosure, let it be known that the author of this article is married to the Mayor.

Since the Lyons Board of Trustees (BOT), the Town Planner, the Planning and Community Development Commission (PCDC) and the Economic Development Commission (EDC) first put forth the idea of creating a new Commercial Eastern Corridor (CEC) zone for the eastern entrance area of Lyons (from the decommissioned water treatment plants just east of town to the bottom of Stone Canyon) there have been three new Trustees elected, a new Planner hired, several new members on the PCDC (including three changes in the Chair), and numerous changes in

About Town Nov. 8, 2012

THIS IS THE DAY!  A lovely day, to end all those political ads on TV and in the papers. It will be a welcome relief.  May the best men or women win!
I am mostly interested in the Mill Levy override 3A, and hope it passes for the welfare of our kids of the St.Vrain, the knowledge, the property values, the community, and all that good schools bring to us all.
