New GOCO School Playgrounds Grant Program

For the first time, the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) School Play Yard Initiative will offer funding for professional design services to successful grantees for the 2015 grant cycle. Over $600,000 will be awarded to six schools over the course of GOCO’s competitive grant process for the design and construction of school play yards.

The Streak Continues!

It became very apparent early on that the JV volleyball team was in complete control in their victory over Dawson, winning in two sets 25 to 13 and 25 to 5.  Haley Karsel was on a serving roll in the second set, scoring twelve straight points. Maddi Maguire also had ten serving aces for the set.

About Town - September 11, 2014

This is an exciting week. We attended the first flood commemorative gathering hosted by Boulder County at Gateway Fun Park in North Boulder on Sunday, with various maps, papers, videos, programs, and a performance by the  Playback Theatre. Really nice, several folks from Lyons were there. It was very heartwarming.

That How We Roll!

What a great way to start off league play, with all three Lyons teams (C, JV, and Varsity) scoring wins over Front Range Christian. The C team got things started with a hard fought  two-set win, 25-19 and 26-24. The JV team then dominated their match in two sets as well, winning 25-11 and 25-5. Freshman Sarah Stevelinck was on fire from the serving line scoring thirteen straight points for the young Lions, and finished with ten aces for the night.

Local Children Give Back At Project Kids

Lyons Community Church, Colorado Spirit, and Lyons residents are going to bring kids together, so they can have fun, and give back to the community.
Children twelve and under from Lyons and the surrounding areas will gather on Saturday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to sing, do crafts, have story-time, lunch and snacks, and participate in a give back project. Give back projects will be related to flood recovery in some way.

Born From The Flood And Here To Stay!

After the September 2013 floods in Colorado, the Lyons Community Montessori (LCM) school closed its doors. This was tragic news for the parents and children who were already fragile from their experiences with the flood and who simply wanted to get back into a normal routine. Seeing this need, a group of parents from LCM began working together to start a new Montessori-based preschool. Heartened by the community’s optimism and emboldened by the size of the task at hand, parents got to work.
