After a sold-out concert last Friday night, the Fall Wildflower Concert Series at Planet Bluegrass continues this Friday night, October 21, with the return of San Francisco progressive bluegrassers Front Country, with special guests Monocle. This election season may go down in the record books for a number of reasons. Richard Earl Roe, 84, of Lyons, died on Saturday, October 15, at Pathways Hospice in McKee Medical Center in Loveland. He was born August 15, 1932 in Boulder to Clovis “Cody” Miller and Lawrence “Dutch” Roe. He attended Bunce School in Allenspark. On October 25, 1948, Richard married JoAnn “Judy” Johnson in Brighton, Colorado.
Richard was a heavy equipment operator for many years. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, gold panning, cooking what he grew in his garden, shooting, and re-loading his shells.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Patti Jo Roe, his wife JoAnn “Judy” Roe, daughter-in-law Connie Roe, his sister Colleen Miller, his brother Lawrence Roe, and his daughter Gloria Jean Simpson.
Surviving are his sons Richard Roe of Berthoud and Ninilchik, Alaska, Robert Roe of Longmont, and eight grandchildren. He is further survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, October 21, at the Lyons Cemetery in Lyons.

The Lyons Garden Club’s annual Chili Cook-Off will be held on Saturday, October 29, in The Stone Cup parking lot at the end of the parade route.
