Spirit Hounds Distillery and Rick England are proud to announce that Richardo’s Decaf Coffee Liquer was awarded a gold medal recently at the 2013 Denver International Spirits Competition in Broomfield.
The Wine Country Network’s 2nd Annual Denver International Spirits Competition took place on March 2 and 3 at The Omni Interlocken Resort. This is the region’s largest double-blind spirits competition. It judges spirits on a 100-point scale and by price categories, yielding the fairest ratings. Wine Country Network assembled a prestigious panel of
more than fifteen of the nations most respected spirits authorities to participate. Judges sampled and cast their votes for the best spirit entries in over a hundred different categories, and awarded fifty-eight medals. Wine Country Network expects a greater response next year.
Executive Director of the Colorado Distiller’s Guild, JoAnne Carilli-Stevenson, cautioned England and other medal winners, “Wine Country Network’s other competitions have been well-respected, so winning a medal at the spirits competition is a significant achievement for a local distiller. To be a winner in the competition means people will be out to get you next year.”
This award comes as no surprise to any of the Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce members who have been fortunate enough to win a bottle of Richardo’s at the Chamber’s monthly socials. For those who haven’t yet had their name pulled, you can always stop by Spirit Hounds Distillery, right here in Lyons, and pick up a bottle of the award winning elixir.
