The Lyons Middle School MESA program conducted rocket launches on the softball field Saturday morning. Rockets included single stage and multiple stage configurations. The single stage rockets were estimated to fly 350+ feet high. The multiple stage rockets flew twice as high more more. Their launch speed was estimated at over 150MPH.
Some rockets flew straight. Some did not. Some rockets flew controled flights with successful parachute deployment and gentle return to earth. Some spun out of control and exploded into small pieces. Some flew high enough to disappear. It was exciting to watch and difficult to photograph. Enjoy the photographs. There will be another launch next Sunday.
