After a successful first year, the Art Mentoring Program is hoping to start its second year this fall. Lyons has quite a few artist residents who could share their knowledge, art expertise, and techniques.

Any artist in the greater Lyons area is welcome and encouraged to join in.  Middle/Senior High School Art Teacher Stephanie Busby will work with students to pair the artist with a student.  Although this is not a school sponsored activity, Busby is helping the program, which she feels is very inspirational and worthwhile for both the students and the artists. The group hopes to make a public presentation in the Spring so area residents can see what has been accomplished in fall of 2010 and spring of 2011.

Artist mentor and the student will decide between themselves how often they want to meet, the location,  and time  of their meetings. This is an exceptional opportunity for artists to make a real difference in the art experience of some of our Lyons students, so please consider volunteering.  You are likely to enjoy the experience also.  Artists may call Marie McCreery 303 823 5722 to become involved and the interested students may speak to the art teacher, Stephanie Busby.

Interested artists will meet in late September to begin the art mentoring program.
