The Lyons High School Mountain Bike Team traveled south to Castle Rock last month to participate in the Ridgeline Rally the final event in the Colorado High School Cycling League’s season. The event was twice postponed because of the early snowstorms in October. However, the delay didn’t dampen the LHS riders’ enthusiasm! A total of eight LHS riders participated in the various races, which were divided by age and gender.
The event brought thirty-one high school teams and over three hundred and twenty riders from all around the state to compete on the rugged 6.2-mile course, which saw 666 feet of elevation for each lap. In the girls’ freshman race, Kate Berreman of Lyons reached the podium with a strong third place finish. The LHS team members participating in the event were: Jacob Anderson, Lucy Banta, Kate Berreman, Connor Hodge, Piper McCall, Ryan Smith, Zach Tucker, and Alex Willie.
