The staff at Lyons Elementary School (LES) wants to inform all parents and guardians of an upcoming opportunity to learn more about their children’s school and how it is continuing to improve teaching and learning for the students. Superintendent Don Haddad has also announced that every school in the St. Vrain Valley District will be scheduling a Parent Update Meeting to provide parents specific information about school performance.

The Parent Update Meeting for Lyons Elementary is also being coupled with an “Author’s Gallery Walk” to celebrate students’ writing. All parents and students are encouraged to attend. Student writing will be showcased throughout the school and students will have an opportunity to share with their parents all they are learning as developing writers. The event will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18. You’ll have an opportunity to hear about recent successes, ongoing developments with the instructional programming, and strategies to enhance learning and increase academic achievement.

District officials will also be on hand to discuss the new school accreditation framework designed by the Colorado Department of Education and, specifically, the varying levels of accreditation. It’s important that you know how Lyons Elementary is progressing and the action steps they are taking to ensure their students are achieving at the highest possible levels.

As Superintendent Haddad stresses, “parent involvement correlates highly with improved student achievement and success.” Principal Christa Keppler asks that all parents please attend on January 18 to help Lyons Elementary rise to even higher levels of success.
