Undefeated Blue Mountain Stone got the night off Monday evening on the adult co-ed softball schedule of games in Bohn Park, and a pack of “also rans” used the league leaders’ respite to nip at the heels of the “Big Dog!” The Natural Disasters, McHeaters, and the Paddy Whackers, all sporting 2 – 1 records, seized the opportunity and won their respective contests to pull within a half a game of the Quarryworkers.

In their quest for a third repeat of double gold, the Lyons Lions traveled to the Colorado State Track and Field Championships where the Lady Lions were expected to have a legitimate battle with Paonia and 2A-newcomer Hotchkiss, as well as their usual worthy eastern plains’ competitor, Akron. Senior Nola Basey led the charge with her superior jumping abilities by taking the high jump win on day one with 5’4”.
