Lyons Cross Country at RE-1J

On Tuesday, September 13, the Lyons High School Cross Country team competed in the RE-1J District Meet, which is Lyons’ opportunity to battle against the seven larger Saint Vrain Valley Schools. Held annually at Longmont’s Sunset Golf Course, the athletes tend to embrace or dread the challenge of this slow, grassy course of punishing hills. Most years, hot temperatures add an extra measure of insult to this race, yet this year’s temperatures pleasantly hovered in the 70’s under mostly cloudy skies.

Spring Sports Preview 2011 - Track

Lyons track season got under way at the RE-1J meet last Saturday, March 12. Coach Mark Roberts has a lot of talent to work with in his 14th year as head coach. He along with his assistants John Nichols (throws), Ryan Landis (throws and weight room), Jeannean Anderson (jumps, weight room), Gib Dolezal (jumps), Jeff Boele (jumps and middle school coach), Eric Owen (pole vault), and Kevin Akers (distance), have a great lineup for the 2011 track and field season.
