Each year, the schools of Saint Vrain Valley School District gather at Longmont’s Sunset Golf Course to compete against each other on a slow and grueling 5K course of grass covered hills. By far the smallest of the district’s eight public schools, Lyons revels in this David and Goliath style competition. Last year, the girls placed third and the boys placed second, a mere point behind Skyline.
