Overall the St. Vrain Scrimmage was a successful warm-up for the Lyons High School cross country season. Several teams competed on August 28. Lyons Lions put in some decent finishes, and some used the day as a good workout.

Freshman Miriam Roberts completed the 5K course in 21:17* a good start to a promising season. Olivia Raspotnik finished in 23:29, Hazel Myers in 25:39; a solid finish for the sophomore considering this is roughly two minutes less than her best finish last year. Maia Lang finished in 25:52.
Chris Smith was the first Lion to cross the finish line in the boys race. Last year Smith broke 19 minutes on October 12 at the Brush meet. Beginning this year with a 19:17 finish is a nice start for the senior. Ryan Boucher came in 20:08, Keith Albertson 21:13, Sam Crowley 21:44, Jacob Vahlenkamp 22:27, Jacob Anderson 23:02, Spencer Huff 23:37, Isaac Cisar 23:57, Reed Gatmann 23:58, Levi Stone 24:51, and rounding out the 5K finishers was Isaac Vahlenkamp with a time of 26:41.

A few runners used this race as a workout. Melissa Roberts and Zach Pfeifer each ran a 3K in their respective high school race and in the open race that proceeded. Tatianna Raspotnik, Kelsey Minor, and Izzy Solman stepped off the course at 2 miles as did Matt Smith, Jack Gambrell, and Isaiah Vahlenkamp. Emma Cizar completed a 3K.

This meet also acted as the warm up for the St. Vrain Invitational; an event that will be held September 11 and hosted by Lyons and Niwot.
