The returning boys’ state qualifiers are: seniors Zach Pfeifer, Chris Smith, Keith Albertson, and sophomore Ryan Boucher. Other team mates vying for a spot on this year’s state team are Sean Flynn and Marcel Such. Lyons is in the 2A classification this year. At state, five team members run and three are scored.
Melissa Roberts was the lone girl state qualifier last year. Olivia Raspotnik, Izzy Solman, Maia Lang, Kelsey Miner, and newcomer Miriam Roberts all have the potential to help create a state qualifying team.
“Assistant coach Kevin Akers put in a lot of time with several of the runners this summer,” states Mark Roberts “and we’re excited to see the results of their hard work.” Mr. Roberts is the head coach of the Lyons
Cross Country team and looks forward to his fifteenth year. Lyons has taken a boys’ team to state for the last fourteen years and expects to be among the top three finishers at state on October 30.
