by Phil AumillerWith their mothers holding roses in the stands after Tuesday’s Senior Night pre-game presentation, the Lady Lions’ seven Seniors got down to business in a hurry. Rachel Hinker lit up the first quarter with eight of Lyons’ 17 points, while Kylee Senesac added five on her way to a team-high ten points. Jaicy Sutak also scored in the first quarter and added a couple more scores later in the game.
In the second quarter, Seniors Molly Arp and Kelly Williams joined the party by hitting three freethrows. The other two Lyons Seniors did their scoring in the second half: Maddie Aumiller sunk both of her 2-point attempts on fast-break passes from Sutak and Senesac, and Corbette Tschantz nailed both ends of a 1 and 1 from the line. In total, the Lyons Seniors scored 35 points in the 53-20 victory.
Junior Madison Myers had a great game, hitting two 3-pointers plus a 2-pointer and a freethrow. Junior Shannon Gilman scored six. With three more points from the Sophomores, Olivia Raspotnik and Joelle Holst, the Lions got production from eleven girls in this well-rounded game. Lyons never trailed, and they’re looking strong heading into the post-season.
