It has been a week of highs and lows for the Lyons varsity. Last Tuesday they went into the half time tied, but suffered a heart breaking 1 point loss to the Brush Beet Diggers. On Friday the Lions traveled to Berthoud to meet the Spartans, where the C Team and Junior Varsity had decisive wins over their opponents, the JV doubling the score of the Spartans. Excitement was in the air as the crowd anticipated a triple win,
but it was not meant to be as Berthoud came out with every shot going in and a 3 point shooter that was difficult to stop. Thanks to some solid shooting by Jesse Fischer, we gained ground more than once, but were never able to quite catch up, suffering a loss of 45-64. Tuesday the Strasburg Indians came to Lyons for another round of double headers. Once again the C Team and JV teams continued their winning streaks. The Varsity game proved to be exciting as the boys came together as a team. There were some absolutely poetic 3 pointers by Zach Pfeifer and other memorable shots by Dugan Tomczak and Isaac Cisar. Colten Hammans was a joy to watch with his quick energy and ball handling skills, and David Schoenherr gained in assists, while Chris Boucher once again proved his ability to make plays happen under the basket and pushed the Lions on top 50-38.
