Thank you Wendy Hayden for expressing your concerns regarding the signage used by the “alternative” medicine shops in Lyons and elsewhere in Colorado. I had no idea Lyons and Colorado have so many “sick” individuals requiring this type of questionably beneficial medical treatment.

Seventeen-year-old Assistant Senior Patrol Leader for Boy Scout Troop 560, Colton Robinson, was awarded Eagle Scout honors this month. Colton is the son of Scott and Amy Robinson. The scout was looking for an Eagle Scout Project when a friend, who attends Lyons High School, suggested he contact the school and see about providing some much needed repairs to the Lyons athletic facilities. Robinson met with the Principal and worked out the details.

Mayor Julie Van Domelen called an emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees (BOT) early Monday (September 13) evening. On the agenda, were two items; the first a proposal to allow the “Good Sam Bike Jam” to use Sandstone Park as a rest stop on Sunday, September 19, and the second item concerned instituting a town-wide fire ban.

Several Boulder County Sheriff’s Deputies, coming home from the big pot bust near Raymond last Tuesday evening (August 31), stopped a very large (60 to 80) “peloton” of recreational bikers riding through Lyons. The deputies scolded them for riding through such a densely populated, and congested traffic area in a manner which obstructed traffic. The officers said this was not the first time this group had been warned, but it might be the last.
