The U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced last week that CEMEX, Inc., the owner and operator of the Portland cement manufacturing facility in Lyons, has agreed to operate advanced pollution controls on its kiln, and pay a one million dollar civil penalty to resolve alleged violations of the Clean Air Act (CAA).

Two Lyons natives have taken a different angle on Colorado’s emerging marijuana industry by inventing a board game. Mike Ginwright and Robb Deeter, both of whom graduated in the 1980’s from Lyons High School, threw around the idea of making a board game based on marijuana in Colorado since they were eighteen or nineteen years old.

The public is invited to join St. Vrain Valley School District students and teachers at this year’s Tech Fair to be held on Saturday, April 20, at Skyline High School, 600 E. A visit to the Fair will provide a great opportunity to see what students are learning in school, and how they are applying technology to their day-to-day activities and special projects.
Mayama Movement Studio owners Ali Kishiyama and Jasmine Lok are pleased and excited about moving their studio down the street. Currently located in the rear of The Stone Cup & Kitchen, the two women have been in negotiations with representatives of the Colorado Odd Fellows Association to rent the Odd Fellows Hall, which has been unused since the local branch stopped functioning last year. Lok says the move will triple their space overall, and double the studio space.
