PCDC Elects New Chair
The Planning and Community Development Commissioners (PCDC) met Monday night to do a little “January housecleaning.” The “chores” included welcoming newly appointed Commissioner Michelle Allen,1st Annual Spirit of Lyons Award
The Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) presented representatives from the Lyons Garden Club (L to R) Anne O’Brien, Ann Marie Mikoni, Joycelyn Fankhouser with the 1st Annual “Spirit of Lyons Award.” The award was created by the LACC to recognize the contributions to the community by an individual or organization by reflecting, in modern times, the manner in which our founding families created a community in this valley. The recipient’s efforts on behalf of the Lyons Community sets a contemporary example for the rest of us to follow. This award is intended to draw the community’s attention to that example. The Internal Revenue Service plans a Feb. 14 start date for processing tax returns delayed by last month’s tax law changes. Marijuana Meeting

The Town of Lyons Staff held a roundtable meeting with the owners and landlords of the medical marijuana businesses here in Lyons last Wednesday evening (January 12). A second meeting for input from the general public was held Wednesday, January 19, but because of publishing schedules, that story will be in next week’s edition.
