Local Caterer Recognized
A Spice of Life Catering, owned by Lyons resident Dan Bruckner, has been recognized by Colorado Meetings + Events magazine for a reader’s choice award as “Best Caterer – Outside The Denver Metro Area.” The award was presented on Monday, March 14, at the 5th Annual “Best of Colorado” celebration ceremony at The Cable Center in Denver.
Tails Are Wagging in Lyons!

With the addition of the completely fenced 10-acre dog park and the growing population in Lyons of humans with their canine friends, there became a need for the dogs to have a voice! The Lyons dog park, plus the whole dog community of Lyons now have their own Facebook page.
Bridge Girder Installation to close US 36 near 80th Ave next week
Next week, March 14th through March 17th, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will install bridge girders for the new 80th Avenue bridge over US 36. The work will require a full closure of eastbound and westbound US 36 for four nights, weather permitting.

PCDC Swears in New Members
The Lyons Planning and Community Development Commission (PCDC) expeditiously approved the minutes of their last meeting, swore in new members, David Lock and Roger Flynn, and then adjourned the meeting. Editor’s Note: Lyons resident Nick Schneider is an astronomer at the University of Colorado specializing in planetary science. He had been invited to a conference in the field at Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan, from 8-11 March. The earthquake and tsunami struck Sendai on March 11, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Japan time.
Some of you have asked for my account of events in Japan, and the rest of you are just going to get it. I wanted to write it down anyway so I didn’t forget any part. Remember though, that however alarming it was for me, my family, and my friends, there are undoubtedly hundreds of thousands of stories scarier still, and not all with happy endings.

You wouldn’t believe what we heard buzzing about around PlanBoulder’s year end Celebration event at the Boulderado Hotel! There was a greek style dinner buffet, swanky drinks (yumm) with featured keynote speaker, Van Jones, “ Does dense make sense?,” author of “The Green-Collar Economy: How One Solution Can Fix Our Two Biggest Problems.”
