As we lingered inside during the season’s last snowstorm, I reminisced with Liz about the sights, sounds and scents we again look forward to experiencing on our fair weather forays through Lyons.

Race officials estimate that over fifty thousand people turned out on Memorial Day to participate in the 2013 running of the Bolder Boulder.

As the weather has warmed (it’s hard to believe we were getting a nine inch snow storms just last month) Lyons Fork Chef Ian Rubenoff has been casting a critical eye on the herbs that are now in full bloom in the planting beds on the back patio when he arrives every morning for work. Smelling the redolent aroma of fresh basil, mint, thyme, chives, and tarragon his mind immediately begins to churn. . . “What new dish can I create to take advantage of this early summer bounty?”

The Boulder County Commissioners announced the recipients of six Sustainability Grants in the following Boulder County communities: Longmont, Lyons, Nederland, Jamestown, Boulder ,and Lafayette. CEMEX in Lyons, recently hosted a firefighter training session for members of the Boulder County Wildland Fire Cooperators, a non-profit agency that supports safe and effective all-hazard training for emergency first responders. CEMEX provided its Dowe Flats Quarry site for the training
