The GearSPOT (138 East Main Street) in the Lyons Village Central Plaza is celebrating their grand opening/ribbon cutting on Friday, March 22, from 3 to 6 p.m. Proprietor Lisa Ruoff invites the community to come on in, check out the outdoor sporting gear, and enjoy some munchies and refreshment.
Ruoff, who moved here from Carbondale late last year, had spent most of her adult life owning and operating restaurants in the Roaring Fork Valley. The American Council of Engineering Companies of Colorado (ACEC/CO) named Nancy Clanton, of Clanton and Associates, Inc., the 2013 Outstanding Woman in Engineering at a special ceremony held last month at the Lakewood Country Club. The prestigious award recognizes an outstanding woman in a leadership position who is recognized for professional achievements in the engineering profession, and who is a visible role model for young engineers. Clanton was among six professionals who were nominated for the award this year by their peers.
