The Lyons Community Foundation (LCF) is pleased to announce the schedule for its 2013 grants cycle. The LCF granting program focuses on the mission to improve the quality of life, build a culture of giving and encourage positive change for the greater Lyons area.
Grant applications to LCF are due by September 6, 2013. Grants may be submitted beginning on August 1, 2013.

On Wednesday, June 12, at approximately 6:38 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Lyons Fire Department, Longmont Emergency Unit (LEU), Boulder Emergency Squad (BES), and American Medical Response (AMR), responded to Meadow Park in Lyons, on report of a stranded tuber in the North St. Vrain Creek.

The third annual Oskar Blues Burning Can Beer Fest (www.burningcan.com) drew a mountainous crowd as part of the 2013 Lyons Outdoor Games (www.lyonsoutdoorgames.com). More than $16,500 was raised for local benefactors and more than 265 lbs. of aluminum cans were recycled throughout the weekend.
All proceeds from the beer festival went to the Lyons Department of Parks and Recreation and the Colorado Brewers Guild, two groups that embody the soul of Oskar Blues. At a party on their new garden patio last Saturday evening, June 15, Spirit Hound Distillers, Lyons’ first legal distillery, released a new bottled spirit. Spirit Hound White Dog Moonshine is the unaged, all-malt spirit that the company distills and ages in charred oak barrels for its burgeoning whisky effort.
