The voter turnout was not nearly as high as last month’s replacement housing in the park question, but a little over seven hundred residents did turn in their ballots. The results are in. To the question, “Shall an ordinance be adopted requiring voter approval for any decision to rezone land in the parks/open space zone district larger than on-half acre, or for any decision to zone land without a zoning designation and encumbered by a conservation easement to a zone that allows commercial or residential use?”
The answer is 386 – FOR, and 328 – AGAINST.

The Boulder County Commissioners and Parks & Open Space staff will present their annual Land Conservation Awards Thursday, April 16, at 3 p.m., at the Parks & Open Space office (5201 St. Vrain Road) in Longmont.
Among those being recognized for their contributions, are Lyons resident and business owner David Chase, who received the Partnership Award on behalf of Redstone Cyclery, for outstanding achievement as an Alpine Partner in the Partnership Initiative Program through the contribution of seven hundred eight-five hours constructing and maintaining over four thousand feet of existing trails at Hall Ranch

On Sunday, April 12, Kim Rees of Thayne, Wyoming was mountain biking with her husband in the Rabbit Mountain Open Space just east of Lyons. The speed with which the Board of Trustees (BOT) raced through their agenda Monday night might have led one to believe there were a few Duke/Wisconsin fans in the room trying to make it home in time for the final thrilling minutes of the game.
