Thank goodness the Board of Trustees (BOT) decided to postpone their regularly scheduled November 19 meeting and public hearing on the 2013 Town budget until November 26, after the Thanksgiving holiday, to ensure that more citizens would be in town, and able to voice their feelings about how the Town’s tax revenues are spent. We left Lyons for two weeks of travels one morning in early October. Upon our return, we immediately heard a faint sound of water running. Investigation revealed that the metal chain controlling the flapper-valve in our toilet was kinked, preventing the valve from closing and allowing the tank-fill water to constantly drain.
