Thank You Donors!

To the Lyons Community,

I’d like to personally thank all of the blood donors who came out on Easter Sunday to support the second annual Lyons Community Foundation Blood Drive. Together with Bonfils, we once again over-exceeded expectations and were able to “fill the bus!” Thirty-seven donors, and we sadly had to turn a number of people away. There were twelve new donors; those that have never given blood before. The demographic profile was a true mix.

Emergency Siren Tests To Begin

Boulder County will begin audible testing of the countywide emergency sirens at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 1. The test is the first of the annual season of monthly emergency audible siren tests, which take place on the first Monday of each month from April through August. The audible siren tests will occur twice on each testing day, at 10 a.m., and 7 p.m., on April 1, May 6, June 3, July 1 and Aug. 5.

Local Teen Receives Eagle Scout Award

Matt Smith started his scouting adventure as a Tiger Scout in Pack 281 while in first grade at Hygiene Elementary School. Matt earned Cub Scouts Highest award, The Arrow of Light, in February of 2007, earning all twenty Cub Scout Badges.  Shortly after earning The Arrow of Light award, Matt joined Troop 128, sponsored by Faith Community Lutheran Church, and has progressed steadily thorough the ranks of scouting holding positions as Assistant

Home Town Heroes

With their arms full of dozens of boxes of Thin Mints, Samoas, Tag-A-Longs, and Dos-Si-Dos, etc., the Girl Scouts from Troop 71533 stopped by the Lyons Fire Protection District Station House last Saturday morning to present their “Home Town Heroes” with nearly ninety boxes of cookies.

Parks & Rec. April News

Parking Passes Now Available
The Town of Lyons Parks & Recreation Department will once again implement a five-dollar per vehicle parking fee for those who wish to park in the Meadow or Bohn Park parking lots on weekends and holidays. The parking fee will be enforced for the 2013 summer season (April 15 through October 1). Residents of Lyons will not be charged the five-dollar parking fee as long as they utilize a “resident” parking pass, which can be obtained at no charge for all

Depot Library Going Electronic

As a result of public demand, the Lyons Depot Library is completing the transition from the current library cards and paper card catalog system to a fully electronic system.  This improvement was identified as a top priority by library patrons in a user survey.
