At the pre-meeting workshop Monday night, the Board of Trustees (BOT) received an update on possible affordable housing on the triangular piece of Town owned property on Railroad Avenue across from the fire station (see Amy Reinholds column in this edition). Boulder County Parks and Open Space and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Wildland Fire Management Program plan to conduct a prescribed burn at Heil Valley Ranch on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, October 28, 29, and 30. Heil Valley Ranch will be closed completely during active ignition days. The exact closure dates will be dependent on weather conditions. Specific areas will reopen as soon as it’s deemed safe to do so by fire personnel.
The Overlook prescribed burn will cover approximately twenty-two acres and is located west of the Ponderosa Loop Trail (map).

Beginning Sunday, November 1, residents in unincorporated Boulder County will see reductions in flood insurance premiums. The discounts are a result of hard work by Boulder County staff to achieve an improved Community Rating System (CRS) score from the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Beginning Tuesday, October 27, Evans Street, from 5th Avenue east to 4th Avenue, and 4th south to Park Street, will be closed daily from 7 a.m to 5 p.m. to through traffic, due to waterline construction for the "Capital Improvements - Confluence Area" project. Local residents will be allowed access to homes.

Boulder County is set to welcome the community to its new integrated, one-stop health, housing, and human services building in Longmont. The county will hold an open house at the new St. Vrain Community Hub, at 515 Coffman Street in Longmont, on Thursday, October 15, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature tours, refreshments, and a ribbon cutting ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
