Mountain lions may be visiting your neighborhood without you even knowing it

When people hear reports of mountain lion sightings, they naturally assume the incident must have been in the backcountry. Over the past few weeks, Colorado Parks and Wildlife Officers responded to reports along the southern Front Range involving mountain lions killing deer near people’s homes.

"We remove the deer carcasses and advise the residents to remain vigilant for the next few days in case the cat returns," said Colorado

Satisfying Your Outdoor Gear Needs

The GearSPOT (138 East Main Street) in the Lyons Village Central Plaza is celebrating their grand opening/ribbon cutting on Friday, March 22, from 3 to 6 p.m. Proprietor Lisa Ruoff invites the community to come on in, check out the outdoor sporting gear, and enjoy some munchies and refreshment.

Ruoff, who moved here from Carbondale late last year, had spent most of her adult life owning and operating restaurants in the Roaring Fork Valley. An avid outdoor enthusiast, she was surprised that there weren’t many places to get quality used outdoor gear in the general vicinity, and decided to fill the niche. She explains, “We’re happy to be a part of the

Alarming Situation

The St. Vrain Pharmacy fell victim to a would be burglar last Wednesday night (March 13). The perpetrator jimmied the back door of the establishment, and then tried in vain to silence and disable the alarm with a hammer. The unsuccessful attempts and the screeching alarm apparently frightened away the rascal before he could do any further damage, or carry off any ill-gotten loot.

Surprisingly, the break-in attempt occurred relatively early, at approximately 9:30 p.m. A Boulder County Sheriff’s Deputy, who was in the area on a routine patrol of the Lyons

A scope of work of the task force has been agreed upon between myself, the Chair of the Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Town’s Parks and Recreation Director.  I have

Local Inventor To Kickstart His Product

Several years ago Lyons resident Gary Peterson was concerned about the safety of his children while they were riding their bikes when visibility was less than optimal. He began tinkering with some ideas, and eventually came up with the “Super Nova Blue” safety bike light.

The small, lightweight, incredibly bright, blue light is mounted on the spokes of a bicycle, and can be see from all directions (360 degrees) at over a thousand feet (more than three
