After a summer of feverish work, a new Montessori school opened up in the old parsonage next to the Lyons Community Church. Mayor John O’Brien and Trustee LaVern Johnson helped the Lyons Valley Preschool staff and board proudly cut the ribbon to welcome a couple dozen eager toddlers to the world of education.

Much in the same way of 2013 being remembered mostly for the devastating September flood, 2014 here in Lyons seemed to a large extent to resolve around “recovery.” Life did get somewhat back to “normal” for most residents.
