The Lyons Community Foundation (LCF) held a get together Tuesday evening at the Axe & Oar Restaurant to announce and honor the organizations, nonprofits, and groups that were awarded grants for the 2015 cycle. This week I spoke with Marcelo Ferreira, the Emergency Management Coordinator with the Boulder Office of Emergency Management (OEM), who helped me understand how the OEM helps coordinate disaster response and recovery efforts.
Marcelo started by explaining that the definition of disaster management is much broader than only the actual event. It includes pre- and post-disaster activities.
