Nearly one hundred interested residents filled Rogers Hall last Saturday morning for the Lyons Housing Collaborative workshop. On hand were the Trestle Strategy Group, Boulder County Housing, Habitat for Humanity, local architects, contractors, and landscapers, planning students from CU-Denver, the Mayor, and nearly every member of the Board of Trustees.

After a summer of feverish work, a new Montessori school opened up in the old parsonage next to the Lyons Community Church. Mayor John O’Brien and Trustee LaVern Johnson helped the Lyons Valley Preschool staff and board proudly cut the ribbon to welcome a couple dozen eager toddlers to the world of education.

The Lyons Community Foundation (LCF) says goodbye to board member and long-time volunteer Alison Jennings. Alison served on the LCF board for the past three years and was the foundation’s vice-chair for the past year. In her time serving the foundation, Alison has made many important contributions to the growth and development of the local non-profit, most notably as the chair of the LCF Annual Awards Gala over the last six years.

Much in the same way of 2013 being remembered mostly for the devastating September flood, 2014 here in Lyons seemed to a large extent to resolve around “recovery.” Life did get somewhat back to “normal” for most residents. However, as a walk through the Confluence Neighborhood shows, we still have a long way to go.
