Wednesday, October 6, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lyons Community Church, The Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce invites the entire community to a “Conversation With Our Leaders.” A presentation by Town Administrator Victoria Simonsen and Mayor Julie Van Domelen, followed by a question and answer period.

The Board of Trustees (BOT) listened to a presentation by Cameron Stone, of Colorado Springs, explaining why he thought they should waive, or at least  reduce, a $2500 deposit and do away with the requirement that he should be required to provide an independent CPA audit of the books for his company, CAMS Cable, in order to transfer the Town’s cable

Eagle Scout Gets His Wings

Seventeen-year-old Assistant Senior Patrol Leader for Boy Scout Troop 560, Colton Robinson, was awarded Eagle Scout honors this month. Colton is the son of Scott and Amy Robinson. The scout was looking for an Eagle Scout Project when a friend, who attends Lyons High School, suggested he contact the school and see about providing some much needed repairs to the Lyons athletic facilities. Robinson met with the Principal and worked out the details.

Love and Logic – Early Childhood Parenting Made Fun!

Laurie Kennedy, owner, founder, and teacher at Lyons Community Montessori (LCM), is pleased to announce an exceptionally enjoyable new class from the Love and Logic Institute, designed for parents of children age six and younger (this curriculum actually applies very well through age ten). This will mark the fifth time LCM has offered this class to the parents of the community.

BOT Holds Emergency Meeting

In the interest of full disclosure, let it be known that the author of this article is married to the Mayor.

Mayor Julie Van Domelen called an emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees (BOT) early Monday (September 13) evening. On the agenda, were two items; the first a proposal to allow the “Good Sam Bike Jam” to use Sandstone Park as  a rest stop on Sunday, September 19, and the second item concerned instituting a town-wide fire ban.
