Did you wake up Monday morning – in the dark (thank-you daylight savings) with yet more snow frosting the ground, and think to yourself “When will this winter ever end?” Well believe it or not, the answer is soon. This Saturday, March 20 is the vernal equinox, otherwise known as the first day of
spring. That can only mean its time to get the clubs out from behind the skis and snow shovels, and start getting ready for the second annual Lyons Community Foundation Golf Outing at Ute Creek Golf Course in Longmont.
This year’s format will again be a “Four Person Scramble,” meaning everyone gets to hit a drive, you take the best of the bunch, and everyone hits a second shot from the site of the best drive, again taking the best of the bunch, and so on and so forth, until the team holes out. Which means you don’t have to be at the top of your game to compete and have fun; all you have to be is lucky once in a while to feel like you’ve contributed.
Men, women, boys, and girls; everyone is encouraged to put together a team, or join one. The outing will take place Wednesday, May 19, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Arrive at 7 a.m. for check-in. The entry fee is $90 per person, or $360 per team. Entry fee includes: breakfast, coffee, range balls, green fees, cart, prizes and a catered lunch afterward.
Enjoy a fun day of golf with your friends and neighbors, meet new people, play a great course, and support a local philanthropic organization which provides grants for Lyons’ growth and development in the areas of arts, business, childcare, ecology, schools, seniors, and individuals in need. Help Lyons and surrounding communities continue to be the best.
