The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office reports that a wildfire they are calling the “Reservoir Road Fire” broke out in the vicinity of Carter Lake (just north of Lyons) on Sunday, September 12. Area residents could
see a plume of smoke rising above the ridges to the north of town. All afternoon, and into the early evening, residents witnessed slurry planes and helicopters flying back and forth over Lyons on their way to and from dropping fire retardant onto the blaze. It is believed that at least two homes and four outbuilding structures have been destroyed as a result of this fire.
