A Town Public Works employee found this eight-inch baby rattlesnake in a load of dirt he was transporting.

Jim and Kathy Carroll received an unexpected visitor to their farm last Thursday afternoon (August 26). A black bear ambled past their goat pen, past the
dogs, and took refuge in the big maple tree adjacent to their front door. A deputy from Boulder County kept an eye on the bruin while officers from the Colorado Division of Wildlife drove over from Firestone. This is the time of year when bears, looking to fatten up for their long winter snooze will frequently come into neighborhoods looking for some easy snacks. Residents are advised not to leave garbage cans, pet food bowls, or bird feed outside during the night. The same goes for pets, too.
