Can you spare two hours? You can play an important part as a greeter to shoppers as they enter the St. Vrain Market on weeknights and weekend days from April 2 thru 14. Volunteers make a difference in a successful food drive.
The need is great to feed hungry people in our town. Lyons Community Food Bank is participating in the 22nd Annual “Hunger Hurts the Whole Community” Food Drive sponsored by Community Food Share. Any volunteer who can donate two hours of time can help bring in 150-200 pounds of food – enough to feed a family of four for two weeks - by greeting shoppers
pleasantly and asking them to donate food or cash.
This is a great opportunity for families and friends. Greeters will work in groups of one to three people. Standing near the entrance of the grocery store right next to the donation bin, shoppers are handed a grocery bag or flyer as they come in and are reminded to donate. There will be a packet of information available to answer questions about Community Food Share and the food drive. Greeters are asked to put on a smile along with the volunteer name tag!
Greeters are needed every evening of the drive and especially during the weekends from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday. Time slots are Monday through Friday 5 to 7 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 9 to 11:30 a.m., 11:30 to 2 p.m., 2 to 4:30 p.m., and 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Folks wishing to help in some other way can consider a donation of cash or food.
Many thanks go to the St. Vrain Market, the location for this food drive in Lyons.
