Areas of focus include:
- Localization – Food, economy, permaculture
- Energy consumption, efficiency & renewables
- Green Building
- Solid waste reduction
- Noise & light pollution
- Air quality
- Water consumption, conservation & quality
- Wildlife habitat & invasive species control
- Education, outreach & marketing
In addition, the SFC needs volunteers to serve on action committees. Each of the above project areas will have an action committee focused on leading sustainability efforts specifically in that area. Is recycling your passion? Clean air? Are you an expert on wildlife habitat? Volunteers will create, guide and carry out short and long term projects.
“We know there are many experts and leaders already working in many of these areas,” says Diane Dandeneau, Chair of the SFC. “We hope to collaborate with them to support existing efforts and keep with the priorities identified in the comprehensive plan.”
Please contact Diane Dandeneau at 303-823-0394 or
to submit your interest in leading or volunteering with an action group. Interested volunteers may also attend the next SFC meeting on August 12 at 7 PM at the Lyons Valley Village Community House to get more information. Everyone is welcome.
