Judging will take place during the third week of March (entry deadline is 4 p.m., March 12), with the winner and winning logo being announced on the Town of Lyons website (www.townoflyons.com) no later than Thursday, March 25. The winner will receive a $250 grand prize in exchange for the rights to the logo. The winning logo will be displayed on over 700 t-shirts, 500 posters, several ads, and over 6,500 race entry forms. All contestants must submit both a hard and soft color copy of their work. All entries must limit the number of colors used to three or less. For more information, and official guidelines please call (303) 823-8250.
Parking PassesBeginning the third weekend in April (17 & 18) Parks & Rec. will once again implement the $5 per vehicle parking fee for non-residents who wish to park in the Meadow Park parking lot on weekends and holidays. The parking fee will be enforced (violators will be towed) for the summer season beginning the third weekend in April, through the end of September. Residents of Lyons will not be required to pay the fee, as long as they utilize the resident of Lyons parking pass.
One free resident parking pass is available per household, a second pass may be obtained for $25, a third pass will be $45. Non-residents may purchase a season parking pass for a flat rate of $45 per vehicle. Resident parking stickers will be mailed following proof of residency being provided at Lyons Town Hall. The presentation of a Town of Lyons utility bill is all that is needed for proof of residency. Please be sure to ask for your parking pass when you stop in to pay your bill.
Adult co-ed softball sign-up
Anyone interested in putting together or joining a team and participating in the Lyons recreational adult co-ed softball league is asked to please contact Parks & Rec. at (303) 823.8250. Co-ed league games will again be held at Bohn Park on Monday nights from 6 to10 p.m. starting May 3. Packets will be available for pick-up at Lyons Town Hall beginning March 15.
Adopt-a-park
Parks & Rec. is implementing its second year of the “Adopt-a-Park, Trail or Landscape” program, which provides additional maintenance and care for the Town’s green spaces through the utilization of community volunteer resources. During these times of limited budget resources, this program will give the town an opportunity to maintain its commitment to keeping its parks, trails and green spaces well maintained while maintenance needs continue to grow. Interested individuals or groups may see a copy of this program on the Town’s website at www.townoflyons.com. Sign up and become a community volunteer today!
