Beginning tomorrow, November 1 at 7 a.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close eastbound and westbound US 36 in the town of Lyons. The lane closures will begin at mile marker (MM) 21 just east of the State Highway 7 (SH) intersection and extend to MM 22 south/east of the SH 66 intersection. Lane closures will be in place 24/7 as an upgraded water line is installed through the area.
Work will take place between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but the lane closures will be effective 24/7. All work is contingent on weather, and is scheduled for completion by Sunday, December 23, until which time traffic control will be in place to direct traffic through the area. The speed limit will be reduced to 40 MPH, and fines will be doubled for violations. Motorists should plan for delays of less than 15 minutes and are reminded to drive Slow for the Cone Zone!
