Perhaps area educators should be handing out more homework assignments these days, because some kids definitely have a little too much time on their
hands. The vandals were at it again over the weekend. They left their “tags” on the rear exterior wall of Lyons Elementary School (near the back door of the gym), various signs around town, on the exterior walls of the picnic shelter/bathrooms in Meadow Park, the parking pay station in Meadow, and even in the lobby of the Post Office.
Earlier this month (during the Parade of Lights weekend) the interior walls of both bathrooms in Meadow Park were defaced with graffiti, and some thought that it might have been the work of “out of town” kids who were here for the festivities. That now doesn’t appear to be the case. Besides costing hundreds of dollars and time to clean up, it just doesn’t put Lyons in a good light.
Lyons Substation Commander Sgt. Kevin Parker indicated that some inmate volunteers from the Boulder County Jail will be coming to town this week to help in the clean up of the mess. Some one in town must know who is responsible. If you have any information about the culprits, please contact Sgt. Kevin Parker at 303-441-4444.
