As the former owners of the Lyons Recorder, we seem to find it almost as difficult to close a business as it is to start up.
We tried to be good neighbors and supporters of Lyons business and were charter members of the Lyons Community Foundation.
We still have a $1,000 pledge to be fulfilled, but with my apologies to the foundation, we will be unable to do that.
Unfortunately, our previous customers, mostly Lyons’ businesses, have left us with over $3,000 in unpaid accounts. Then to make matters worse, for us at least, Dr. Fred Donaghy, the landlord at our previous location, kept our $1,000 deposit because we broke the lease. I had not expected that, as we cooperated with them and even moved out early so the new tenants could move in and there was no loss of income to the landlord. That was money that we were going to use to meet our Lyons Community Foundation pledge for this year. Perhaps the foundation can ask him to donate the money.
Shar and I send our best wishes to the Lyons community and the Lyons RecorderGary Wamsley
