To the Lyons Community,
I’d like to personally thank all of the blood donors who came out on Easter Sunday to support the second annual Lyons Community Foundation Blood Drive. Together with Bonfils, we once again over-exceeded expectations and were able to “fill the bus!” Thirty-seven donors, and we sadly had to turn a number of people away. There were twelve new donors; those that have never given blood before. The demographic profile was a true mix.
Young and old, men and women, locals and even some from out of the community, but that are fans of the town.
A special thanks goes to Sandi Conttrell of the Golden Gang, and the folks at the Walt Self Senior Center. They hosted a brunch for the Bonfils and local volunteer staff, and sat and socialized with the donors during their recovery period. To Lucy Banta and Mystie Brackett for volunteering at the registration desk, the Town of Lyons for supporting the project, and Tess and Skye MacDonald (and I’ll bet little Trea helped too), for the homemade cookies to ensure a quick recovery for the donors.
It was a beautiful sunny day, and was made even better that Lyons came out in force to help those in need. Put it on your calendars; Easter 2014, we’ll be back! I’m Lovin’ Lyons!
